I'm sure a newer version would fit with some slight modifications. but have you tried backtracking the last coupe owners to try and find the orginal parts. There just doesn't seem to be many Savages in the salvage yards and only a few paryed out. If you could at least find the battery hold down parts you could get it running while chasing the chrome cover and 2 side covers. Other possibility is find another person in your town with a 86-88 model and get them to loan you the parts long enough to fabricate (or have fabricated) them. Depending in labor rates in your area, may be cheaper than new even. Also some of the folks on the be-savage site on yahoo have made choppers of their and may have some of the parts they are not using. One if the bay area and if you look down this forum to last summer someone in TX was trying to sell off parts from a chopper project they abandoned. HD duty tarp holder bungies look tacky, but will keep the battery inplace.unless you really smack something hard. Happy hunting. Max ps stranger things show up on e-bay, I understand you can tie into key words and have them notify you when it gets a hit.
